Exciting changes are coming in 2015 for those drivers looking for a midsized crossover or new compact SUV from Ford. Available in the summer of 2014, the competition between the 2015 Ford Edge and 2015 Ford Escape offers drivers exciting upgrades in designs and features.
The most exciting changes will be for the 2015 Ford Edge, which will experience its first major overhaul since being introduced for 2007. This midsized crossover will move to a new platform shared with the Ford Fusion/Mondeo and the Lincoln MKZ cars. The EcoBoost four-cylinder engine will continue to improve fuel efficiency along with new design features such as the active grill shutters that optimize aerodynamics and engine temperature. The current V-6 engines should also be available. Fuel efficiency for the 2015 models have not yet been released, but expect fuel consumption to maintain or improve the current 19 mpg for city driving and 27 mpg for highway driving.
2015 Ford Edge
The new Ford Edge will be packed with technology to make driving safer and more comfortable and convenient. The parking assistance tool revealed at the LA Auto Show makes parking a breeze since it works without control or guidance from the driver. The adaptive cruise control warns drivers of cars in their blind spot on the left before the driver signals a turn. Pricing for the 2015 Edge is not yet available, but should not change much from the current base price of $ 28,100 and higher trim level $ 37,600, depending on which of the four models are selected.
2015 Ford Escape
The changes to the 2015 Ford Escape will enhance the compact SUV, offering new colors and design options. The four-cylinder EcoBoost engines will continue to improve engine performance and increase fuel efficiency. The two EcoBoost engines offer plenty of horsepower with either a 1.6 or 2.0 liter engine displacement. The base engine is, 2.5 liter four-cylinder with 168 horsepower and 170 pounds of torque. Fuel consumption should maintain or improve on the 2014 models, offering 22 mpg for city driving and up to 32 mpg on the highway. Pricing should be in the range of $ 23,800 to $ 32,000.
Like the Edge, the Ford Escape will share a platform with other Ford cars like the Fusion. Both vehicles seat five and offer cutting edge interior design and the Ford MyTouch technology package. Options include turn-by-turn navigation and voice-controlled commands for media. Both vehicles drive with independent suspension and offer a six-speed automatic transmission.
